Hunka Munka

Hunka Munka was a "soundsational" cocktail lounge that existed in 1960's Ocean City, MD. It was in good company with other nightclubs such as Paddock Nite Club, Beach Club and the Colonial Hotel's Dixie Room which featured "girls on velvet ropes," according to the ads. I have always loved the name Hunka Munka and now I finally have a legitimate home for the name. I don't know who owned the Hunka Munka but my parents hung in there and said it was lively. So thanks to the owners for coming up with such an unusual name.

  1. My name is Jorge Cupertino, I played drums in the band " PEACE " in the late 60's. We played at the Hunka Munka bar the summer of 1968 & 1969.
I have very fond memories playing for the rowdy beach crowd. I have a newspaper clipping advertising my band at the Hunka Munka. You can find me on Facebook. The band members were: Paul Merino, Ankoro Soekoro, Jack Bacardi and Joe.
